CITIC Pacific Mining Management is developing the Sino Iron Project, a world class, large-scale magnetite iron ore project located at Cape Preston, 100km south west of Karratha in Western Australia. This $5.2 billion project has a current mine life of 25 years and is the largest planned magnetite project in Australia, and the first to include large scale downstream processing.

The project involves construction of significant infrastructure including a magnetite concentrator, pellet plant, port facilities, a combined cycle power station, and a large desalination plant.
